Description

Suppose the War Between the States was over; the principal Commanders and both Presidents survived and all were gathered together for a round of discussions regarding the contest.

Now suppose you had the opportunity to be at this "gathering" in the form of a representative of the press; able to ask questions of these knowledgeable individuals.

"A Gathering of Civil War Eagles" offers just such an opportunity. The Nations most prominent impressionists of Lincoln, Grant, Custer, Davis, Lee, Stuart and many others engage in debates throughout the weekend and offer themselves to you for those questions you've always wanted to ask.

Mathew Brady will be on hand to enlighten listeners on his readiness to capture images of the contest for future generations and Sally Tompkins will be ready to discuss her involvement in establishing the only hospital recognized by the Confederacy. Add to this Mr. Stan Clardy, America's premier Civil War storyteller with his program "Soldiers in Gray" and you have a weekend that will not soon be forgotten, if ever!

The sixth annual "Gathering of Civil War Eagles" is not just a seminar of authors and others who have read of the many exploits of the contest, but instead a seminar of learned individuals who bring the characters to life, and YOU are there as an inquiring mind with questions that only they can respond to appropriately.

Held in the original 1840's Winchester Virginia Courthouse in beautifully restored downtown Winchester, you will be transported back in time. Friday night's reception affords you one on one time with the Commanders and others while Saturday's programs expose you to straight forward dialogue between these friends, who for a brief time became antagonists and have now resumed their friendship again.

Several authors will be on hand to discuss their works and other publications will be available for your review and purchase. The Old Civil War Courthouse Museum gift shop will be open and offers an impressive array of items pertinent to the time period.

Courtroom space dictates occupancy to 100 spectators, therefore early registrations are encouraged.
